Quartz-slab Production Flow (step-by-step, in English)
1. Raw-material preparation
• High-purity quartz grit / powder (SiO₂ ≥ 94 %)
• Unsaturated polyester resin (6–8 %), pigments, coupling agent, initiator
2. Weighing & batching
• Automatic silos and weigh-belts dose each ingredient to the gram; recipe is locked to guarantee color repeatability
3. Intensive mixing
• Planetary or high-speed paddle mixer blends resin, quartz and colorants for 3–5 min until the mix is homogeneous and free of lumps
4. Even distribution (spreading)
• The wet mixture is conveyed into a moving hopper that scatters it uniformly across a steel mold or carrier frame
5. Vacuum–vibro-compression
• Mold enters a vacuum chamber at –0.1 MPa; simultaneous 100–200 Hz vibration and 50–100 t pressure removes air voids and densifies the slab
6. Thermal curing
• Green slab travels through a 90–110 °C tunnel oven for 40–60 min; resin cross-links and the board becomes rigid
7. Cooling & rough trimming
• After 24 h cooling, the slab is flipped, edge-trimmed and inspected for warpage
8. Calibrating (thicknessing)
• Multi-head diamond calibrators grind both faces to the exact thickness (±0.3 mm)
9. Polishing
• 12–36 progressively finer diamond heads create the final gloss (40–70 GU) or matte/honed finish
10. Quality check & defect repair
• UV lamps detect micro-cracks; tiny voids are filled with color-matched resin
11. Cutting to size
• Bridge saws or water-jet tables cut the 3.2 m × 1.6 m master slab into customer dimensions
12. Packaging & warehousing
• Slabs are film-wrapped, edge-protected with foam, palletized and stored vertically on A-frames ready for shipment
The entire line—mixing through final cut—is PLC-controlled, giving a cycle time of ~30 minutes per slab on modern continuous presses.
